Our Story
Kartago Dates, the producer of Deglet Noor organic dates, inherits an ancestral tradition passed down for generations in the Horchani family, who have cultivated several varieties of thousand-year-old dates for over two centuries. This family-owned and operated business was founded upon the establishment of the largest date palm plantation in the Tunisian Sahara, located in the valley of Saba Abar, at the heart of Djerid Oasis. The unique appearance, taste, smell, and quality of Deglet Noor dates make them the best in the world.
Kartago Dates has state-of-the-art processing units equipped with sophisticated and ultra-modern machinery to handle millions of tons of the world's highest quality dates annually. In addition, a dedicated farming unit oversees the pollination, irrigation, and manual harvesting of the dates. The company exports these dates to numerous countries across all five continents. After the dates are processed and selected, they are stored in cold rooms with a total storage capacity of over 22 million pounds.
At our date manufacturing plant, quality control is of utmost importance to ensure that our products meet the highest standards. We have a team of highly trained professionals who oversee every stage of the manufacturing process, from the sourcing of the raw materials to the packaging of the final product. Our quality control team conducts regular inspections and tests to ensure that our dates are free from any defects or contaminants. We also use state-of-the-art equipment and technology to monitor the production process and maintain consistency in the quality of our dates. Our commitment to quality control is reflected in the high level of customer satisfaction and loyalty that we have earned over the years.
As a date manufacturing company, sustainability is a core value that we prioritize in all aspects of our business. We understand the importance of preserving the environment and supporting the communities that we operate in. To minimize our environmental impact, we have implemented various sustainable practices in our production process, such as using renewable energy sources and minimizing waste generation. We also prioritize ethical sourcing of raw materials and work with farmers who use sustainable agriculture practices. Our commitment to sustainability also extends to our social responsibility initiatives, where we work with local communities to support education and social welfare projects. We believe that our sustainable approach not only benefits the environment and communities but also enhances the quality and reputation of our products.

What We Stand For
Every date traces back to named groves in the Djerid and Saharan oases of Tunisia. We never blend origins or re-label third-party product.
USDA Organic, Halal, and full COA documentation on every lot — not as a marketing claim, but as the minimum standard we hold ourselves to.
We prioritize stable, recurring supply relationships over one-off transactions. Volume commitments are rewarded with locked pricing and reserved allocation.
Date palms are among the most water-efficient fruit crops. We support grove families using traditional irrigation methods that preserve Saharan oasis ecosystems.
Lab reports, phytosanitary certificates, and full traceability documentation are shared proactively — no waiting, no chasing.
Our direct sourcing model keeps a larger share of value with Tunisian farming families rather than funnelling margins through intermediary brokers.
